We conducted a demonstration experiment of ultra-remote construction of heavy machinery using a multi-link communication system.

Taisei Corporation is developing construction technology that enables remote and automated operation of construction machinery used to counter dam sedimentation. The photos show construction using ultra-remote control and a briefing session on the implementation details.

In this demonstration, ultra-remote construction was carried out using a backhoe and crawler dump truck on the Tamashima-Kasaoka Road, approximately 300 km from the control room, via a multi-link communications system. Satellite links were used as the communications backbone at the construction site, demonstrating that remote construction is possible even in the mountains, where mobile phone lines do not reach.
