Fixed-Point Sediment Monitoring System (3LSB) Installed at Hydropower Facilities

Kyoto University is developing a pinpoint, maintenance-free, cloud-based sediment monitoring system called 3LSB.
This system enables dynamic monitoring of sedimentation progress and sediment flushing effects by continuously and precisely measuring sediment surface levels during flood events.

Since last year, we have been conducting a demonstration at the Koshibu Dam in Nagano Prefecture, a multipurpose dam.
Recently, we installed 3LSB systems at two new locations: the Oi Dam in Gifu Prefecture (operated by Kansai Electric
Power Co., on July 30), and the Rajamandala Hydropower Plant in the Republic of Indonesia (operated by PT Rajamandala Electric Power, on August 19).
We expect 3LSB to contribute to the efficient and safe operation of hydropower facilities in the future.
